![]() ![]() Video chatting is essential these days in order to communicate with your coworkers and to meet your objectives in a timely manner. My dad lives in Virginia, then another coworker lives in Georgia, and one even lives as far as Alaska. It’s very interesting to listen to because there are about 4-5 people in the chat, but what is so fascinating is that none of them live in the same state. On the days he works from home, sometimes he will have video chat meetings with his coworkers. He works from home 2 days out of the week and goes into the office every other day. For example, my dad works for the American Red Cross as a financial analyst. I believe video chatting is the most important technology, mainly because technology is so advanced nowadays that your employees may not even be in the same state. Three examples of information technologies that could monitor these telecommuters are a company email address, a company telephone, and video chatting. It is important for an employee to know whether he or she is doing good or bad at work to see if there are things they can improve upon. Lastly, I would make sure the telecommuters have at least enough supplies or equipment and also give them feedback every once in a while, (perhaps every month) to let them know their progress. And if nothing improves with deadlines, there should be consequences. If employees that are telecommuting are meeting deadlines and what is expected of them then they will be fine, but the ones that are not meeting deadlines are the ones that need extra paying attention to. Second, employees that are telecommuting should be evaluated. They should make sure they read the policies of telecommuting and the advantages and disadvantages of it. First, companies should have their policies in an employee handbook, making sure every employee has one at his office space. While telecommuters have guidelines to follow, companies should have guidelines just as much. It would be much more effective not only for the work life but also personal life. It would benefit a telecommuter to have a daily routine. There needs to be that separation between work and home life. Finally (3) Telecommuters need to work during their hours. The children might be home, or pets are around, but when it is time to do work, it is time to focus. Whether working at home or at the office, telecommuters cannot get distracted, especially when working from home. They must meet their deadlines in order to achieve their objectives. (2) Telecommuters need to stay focused and motivated. ![]() These telecommuters should have an office space in their home or someplace private for their work. Three guidelines that need to be followed by telecommuters are: (1) Telecommuters should not share information that would be considered confidential with family, friends, or visitors. Telecommuters and companies must follow guidelines in order to achieve their objectives. What are three examples of information technologies that could help this company monitor these telecommuters?
