However, they make ample use of "Dials", seashell-looking items that can store many things, such as sound, fire, or even impacts. The Sky People are ignorant about many otherwise common elements (such as rubber), and have developed their own unique culture due to their isolation. The war actually continued until Eneru and his goons came and usurped the Skypiean throne, only to be shooed away by the Straw Hats. That is, until 400 years ago, half of Jaya, where the Shandians lived, was blown up into the sky, starting a war to defend the homeland for one side, and to exploit the coveted earth (called "vearth") for the others as it is essential for agriculture in the sky. These people, recognizable by the small wings on their back, used to mind their own business in Skypeia.
